LEBRON HAS DRIVEN THE MEDIA CRAZY...LITERALLY

Dear Media,

I can't believe the utter blasphemy going on by all of you ridiculous talking heads. YOU ALL have spent the last 2+ years hyping this Decision by Lebron James up into the biggest thing in the world. YOU ALL started covering Lebron more than the actual other teams still playing in the NBA playoffs and then, more incredibly, the NBA Finals once the Cavs were eliminated. YOU ALL made "The Decision" possible by feeding all of us fans raw meat all this time and promising us Steak at some point.

And then as soon as this "The Decision" special thing was announced, the entire media as a conglomerated group turned on Lebron in the biggest case of hypocritical phoniness the world has ever seen. The only comparison I can think of is if, at some point right before he killed himself, Adolf Hitler would have said "Blond Haired & Blue Eyed girls are overrated"....but times a million, because he didn't have TV Shows, Podcasts, Talk Radio, and Blogs. Seriously?

Look at ESPN alone...forget that Lebron supposedly "came to them" with the idea for this Decision special for a minute.  Don't act like the ESPN execs didn't immediately bust all over themselves in their pants the moment this happened.  I'm 110% sure NOBODY at ANY POINT ever said "I don't think this is a good idea Lebron". And since the time this special was announced, ESPN has had reporters live in each of the 6 cities Lebron was "considering" reporting 24/7 like it was Presidential Election coverage.  And going a step further, ESPN has force fed us new personalities throughout this whole process trying to increase their brand off of this spectacle just as much as Lebron did.  Mike Wilbon was one of the guys from PTI 2 years ago, yet slowly but surely he's become this high profile NBA aficionado now.  Hell, 2 years ago Chris Broussard was probably homeless somewhere. Yet this story alone has turned him into a household name, and I've personally heard Chris talk more in the last 2 weeks than MY OWN WIFE!!!!! WHO I LIVE WITH!!!! AND SHE LOVES TALKING!!!!! C'mon?

In the end, Lebron was going to be vilified no matter what decision he made.  When you are the best player in the NBA and far and away the biggest Name in Sports, and you are making the biggest decision of your career, you don't let the world know with a Tweet (no offense to Kevin Durant)...or a bootleg interview on ESPN First Take (no offense to Wade & Bosh)...you do what Lebron did.  We live in a world where random high school kids who have less than a 1% chance of ever actually making the pro's and becoming a star in any sport get to have press conference to announce what college they are going to...but the biggest star in sports isn't allowed to do the same?  I mean Really?

Personally I think Lebron's interview was well thought out, he was calm and collected, he answered all the important questions, he let us into his thought process, and ultimately defended his decision to the best of his ability.  The fact that he left 30 million on the table, and put his ego on the side by joining "D-Wade's team", all for a chance to WIN...how was that not the LEAST selfish move Lebron could have made?  One can argue he had a better team waiting for him in Chicago, but that's a matter of opinion and Lebron went with the 2 other Superstars...who are also his friends...over a younger team with potential.  The Knicks suck, the Nets will be playing in Newark the next 2 years, the Cavs proved for 7 years they couldn't get it done with Lebron, and the Clippers are still the Clippers.  You know the world is a terrible place when the biggest name in Sports actually takes the one choice that is about WINNING, and somehow he's being treated like that was the WORST choice he could have made. What gives?

Let's be honest: The only people who Lebron even almost "owed" something to was the Cavs and their fans.  But I don't think Cleveland would be any less angry if he would have told the world 2 or 3 days ago "The Cavs are no longer an option"; actually, I think they would have been angrier!  They would have probably formed a mob, flown to Connecticut, and rioted outside of the Boys and Girls Club before "The Decision" happened.  And furthering the hypocrisy of this whole situation, someone please explain to me why it's okay when every team in every professional sport, year in and year out, brings a bunch of different players in for visits, wines & dines them and promises them the world, then they decide to offer someone else a contract and that player has no choice but to look elsewhere....yet now it's somehow crazy that Lebron flipped the script and did this to 5 teams, and we're supposed to feel sorry for rich idiots like Dan Gilbert, James Dolan, Satan (a.k.a. Donald Sterling), Jerry Reinsdorf, and Mikhail Prokhorov.  Why?

Here's the truth of the matter: Lebron James went on National Television last night and reminded the entire world that sports should be, above anything else, about winning.  Period, the end, no more and no less.  All along we knew that 1 Team and their fans were going to be ecstatic, while 5 other Teams and their fan-bases were going to be let down and feel awful.  There was no easy way to do it, and considering that, Lebron felt the best way to announce his decision was on TV, in a one on one interview, telling us everything we wanted to know and more.  And oh yeah, somehow it's been wiped away that he generated a ton of money for the Boys & Girls Club of America in the process. But according to the media, Lebron went from being "The King" to now being "The Jester" in one foul swoop.

All I can say is that right now, you the media, are pathetic....correction, you are even more pathetic than you normal are. And even sadder than that, when "LeWash" (Lebron-Wade-Bosh....you heard the name here first) wins the NBA Title this year and several times over the next few years, you all will be right back on Lebron's sack and telling us how you said all along he made the right move.  And what could be more pathetic than that?

Sincerely,

The Sports Jerk

P.S. - Dan Gilbert sounds like the girl who was asked to the Prom, then was dumped a few days before when a cuter girl said she'd go with you. Except instead of being a pre-pubescent teenage girl, he's really an old man who doubles as a MULTI-MILLIONAIRE OWNER OF AN NBA TEAM!!!! Man Up!!!
